A building is made of bricks and mortar, but a community is built on relationships: close, caring relationships among Residents, families and staff. At Middlewoods of Newington, CT we all do a little more to make life better for one another. Everyone is a caregiver. That’s the Planetree philosophy—the guiding spirit of our community. Planetree is a Connecticut-based not-for-profit organization that has won international recognition for nurturing “Relationship-Centered Environments” in healthcare settings. What does that term mean in daily life?
When a maintenance worker not only changes your light bulb, but also escorts you to a ball game, that’s Planetree. When a housekeeper not only asks how you like your linens, but how your granddaughter liked her first snowfall, that’s Planetree. When a driver not only takes you to the doctor, but also takes you to the park to smell the roses afterwards, that’s Planetree.
We share these beliefs: Everyone can contribute to our community, no matter what limitations they have. You should measure people by their spirit, not their age.
